Intro to Color Theory Assignment
Get a blank sheet of paper from up front.
Divide it into 6 parts either by folding it or using lines.
Write the name of the color scheme and define it near the top of each box.
Using colored pencils fill the box with an image using that color scheme.
The website Kuler is really great to help you explore and understand color relationships.

Looking ahead to tomorrow! Your final portrait piece will look something like this. You will not be using a grid or graphite paper to draw the face. The person should be wearing sun glasses so we can put the pop of color in the reflection. The geometric background MUST follow a color scheme of your choice. This will be created using pencil and colored pencil.
You will select a famous painting to create a master copy of. Your focus is on creating a proportional observational drawing and mixing and matching the correct colors in the original painting.
Criteria:
The painting should have lots of details and color (must be approved by Mrs. Pierce)
-Search Impressionistic paintings
The drawing of the painting should match the original in every way.
Using only black, white, red, blue, and yellow you will mix all the colors that you need for your painting.
***This project is about color mixing. Reference your color wheel when needed.
Fill the canvas

Color Wheel & Close up of a BUG

6 boxes with different angles and varying close ups on your bug.
Each "bug box" should be colored using a different color scheme. All 6 color schemes listed above should be used once!
(I am suggesting colored pencil for this project)
VALUE VALUE VALUE Focus on your colors showing the different values that your see. No flat color.
Use a ruler to draw the boxes.
ONE box should have a shadow (if the bug is on a ground always give it a shadow...flying bugs might not get one)
Observation contour line drawings of the bug should be in correct proportion and have lots of details.
The same type of bug should be drawn in every box.
One bug should break the boxes frame (Look at the bee on the bottom left...it is leaving it's box)
Craftsmanship/Neatness. Take pride in your work and keep it neat.
Sign your name in the bottom right hand corner.
