Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth. This technique originated from Java, Indonesia. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a tjanting, or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The art of Batik usually uses hot wax and hot dye. For our purposes, we are going to be using Elmer's glue (in place of the hot wax) and tie dye kits (in place of the hot dye). You can choose to create any design on your pillow. You will need to plan something out, which might end of being an evolving work, which is just fine. You might choose to do small "wax" resist designs vs a large design and then go back in with embroidery thread to create interesting texture.
